39 days to go. Today marks the halfway point, assuming the boys have to stay in the NICU until their original due date (which is really the only estimate the doctors will give us right now). We've had some really great days with the boys -- small progress things that give us sparks of excitement and eager anticipation in bringing them home. But, unfortunately we also have had some bad days.
The boys took some steps back with heart rate and breathing issues last week. Finn went from "room air" for three days to having to be put back on warmed/humidified high flow at 4 LPM. And Teague needed to go back to CPAP at 8 LPM and 40% oxygen and we had to pause his feedings and just give him IV for a couple days.
They're both doing better today, and the doctors have told us that these recent setbacks aren't worrying them too much. And they think we will still be on track to take them home late October.
We're halfway there. It feels like an eternity, but it also feels like time is flying by.
We wish it was over, but we are thankful for every moment we get to spend with them.
The cup is half empty. But it's half full too.

They are beautiful! Hang in there guys your parents too. Keep growing eating and breathing!! Love you all and hoping the journey becomes easier, steady and quick to a great home coming!
